LAND NETWORK is a “reverse franchise” structure in that the “Central Support” operation franchises the farmers who operate on the ground. These farmers, in turn, are given shares in the central operation so, ultimately control the franchise.
Our members are situated throughout the country from Cleveland in the North to Wiltshire in the South, Wales in the West to Lincolnshire in the East. The combined capital wealth of members is in the region of £½ to £1 billion. In 2008, between them they converted 150,000 tonnes of waste into crops.
Central Support provides the technical knowledge, works with the Environment Agency and the Planning office of the Local Authority to obtain and retain Permits and permissions for each site and works with each franchise in the areas of Compliance, Health & Safety and Technology. In order to do this, a member of the Central Team sits on the Board of each franchise.
